On September 3, 2009, Minister Sun Zhengcai met with Theera Wongsamut, the visiting Thailand Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The two sides exchanged ideas of further agricultural cooperation.

Minister Sun spoke highly of great achievement of agricultural cooperation between China and Thailand, pointing out that both countries were big agricultural powers. Therefore, to enhance bilateral agricultural cooperation was of great importance. The joint working group mechanism of China-Thailand agricultural cooperation played significant role in bilateral cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged ideas about emergency rice reserves in East Asia and agricultural product trade between China and Thailand.

Wang Ying, Director-General of Department of International Cooperation, Chen Weisheng, Counsel of Department of Animal Husbandry, Zuo Changsheng, Deputy Director-General of Agricultural Trade Promotion Center also attended the meeting.
