Fourth China-South Asia Expo opens in Kunming

The Fourth China-South Asia Expo officially opened in Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province. Chinese vice premier Wang Yang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
Wang pointed out that China is a major trading partner and an important foreign investment source for South Asian countries, while China's overseas projects are largely contracted by South Asian countries.

In recent years, especially since the beginning of the Belt and Road Initiative, China and South Asia cooperate closely in finance and trade to overcome the deep-seated impact of the international financial crisis. By maintaining strong momentum of growth, the region entered a dynamic and fruitful stage in economic activities.

Practice has proved that China and South Asian countries can be good neighbors, good friends and good partners, helping each other with utter sincerity, mutual benefit and win-win.

Wang stressed that China and South Asian countries both achieved a 6.9% economic growth last year, forming an outstanding performance in world's economics.

Taking "Amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, inclusiveness for win-win cooperation" as its theme, this exhibition mirrors Chinese diplomatic policies to the surrounding countries.

China is willing to work with South Asian countries to deepen customs examination, quality inspection, e-commerce promotion, cross-border transportation, so as to speed up construction of free trade areas in the region and increase China's imports from South Asian countries.

China encourages its domestic enterprises to carry out production capacity cooperation with South Asian countries, while promoting industrialization in these countries.

China is willing to promote interconnectivity and create economic cooperation heights by speeding up the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridors and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

China and South Asia can expand cooperation in tourism, simplify entry and exit procedures, encourage joint marketing of tourism resources. China encourages Yunnan to strengthen economic and personnel exchanges with South Asia and other neighboring countries, so as to lay a solid foundation of cooperation among countries.

Maldivian parliamentary speaker, Nepali vice president, Vietnamese deputy premier, Cambodian deputy prime minister, Lao deputy prime minister, the SAARC secretary-general and other dignitaries attended the opening ceremony.
