China imports silage corn from Myanmar for first time

By:Belt and Road Portal   Update:2022-03-16
A total of 51 metric tons (tonnes) of silage corn originating from Myanmar have recently been cleared at the Mengding Customs affiliated to the Kunming Customs, and entered China through the Qingshuihe port on the China-Myanmar border, reported Yunnan Daily.

The silage corn was declared for import by Lincang Pengxin Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd., a trading firm based in Lincang City of southwest China's Yunnan Province. This is the first time China has imported silage corn from Myanmar.

Silage corn refers to the corn feed made by cutting, processing and fermenting the whole corn plants harvested at maturity. It is mainly used for feeding cattle, sheep and other livestock, and boasts good palatability, long-term preservation and long-distance transportation.

Promoting the imports of silage corn from Myanmar is a priority of the Kunming Customs, and it will strive all out to ensure the smooth progress of the pilot program of importing silage corn from Myanmar with the approval of the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
