Thailand exports durian in bulks to China via China-Laos Railway for the first time

By:Belt and Road Portal   Update:2022-04-25

500 tons of Thai durians were transported to China via the China-Laos Railway on Sunday, which marks the first time that Thailand ships durians in bulks to China via the China-Laos Railway, reported Chinanews.com citing words from a source with the Thailand Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Sunday.

Earlier April, Thailand has sent four containers of 40 tons of durians and 20 tons of coconuts to China through the China-Laos Railway to test the feasibility of Thai fruits to China via China-Laos Railway transportation.

According to the report, the railway cross-border transportation has opened up a new era of Thai fruit export transportation. This batch of durians entered Laos through the First Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai Province, northern Thailand, and was loaded at Vientiane railway Station in Laos for China.

It is learned that a large number of durians from eastern Thailand will be exported to China via the China-Laos Railway in the near future.
