By:Xinhua   Update:2017-03-14
Indonesia's annual inflation was expected to ease at a slower pace in March from a year earlier as prices of several unprocessed food decreased.

Governor of Indonesian Central Bank Agus Martowardojo on Monday said that the bank forecast annual consumer price index at 3.81 percent in March compared with 3.83 percent in February.

The acceleration of inflation was still contributed by the hike of an administrated price, electricity tariff and the hike of chilly price, he revealed at the economic chief ministry.

The central bank expects inflation to be at 3 to 5 percent this year with economic expansion of 5 to 5.4 percent.

The government is facing challenges to reduce inflation resulting from food prices in a bid to prevent purchasing power from weakening in the nation which growth mainly triggered by consumption.
