Vietnam's motorcycle sales up 6 pct in H1

By:Xinhua   Update:2017-07-13
Vietnam, known as a motorcycle kingdom in the world, saw a 6-percent growth in motorcycle sales in the first half of this year, the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) said on Wednesday.

Specifically, over 1.5 million motorcycles were sold by VAMM's member companies, including Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, Suzuki and SYM.

Although Hanoi decided this month to ban motorbikes from running in its urban districts from 2030, the local motorcycle market will remain stable in the near future, VAMM forecast.

Last year, VAMM members sold 3.1 million motorcycles across the country.

By the end of February 2017, Vietnam had 45 million motorbikes, according to statistics from motorbike producers and traders in the country.
