China Eastern Airlines adds new flights between Chinese mainland, Singapore

China Eastern Airlines has recently opened new international airline routes or added more flights between Chinese mainland and Singapore.

On July 20, China Eastern Airlines launched a direct flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport to Singapore Airport. The new route will facilitate Singapore Changi Airport's direct connection to Beijing's two major airports, making China Eastern Airlines the first airline to connect Singapore and Beijing Daxing International Airport. The airline now operates 66 weekly flights to and from Singapore, reaching 87 percent of its capacity prior to the outbreak of COVID-19pandemic.

Since mid-August, China Eastern Airlines has planned to increase the number of weekly flights from east China's Shanghai and Hefei to Singapore. This augment will bring the number of China Eastern Airline's weekly flights between Chinese mainland and Singapore to 80, equal to that of in 2019, allowing travelers to travel from Singapore to seven cities in China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'an, Kunming, Yantai, Changsha, and Hefei.

Singapore Scoot Airways reported a significant increase in passenger numbers from Chinese mainland to Singapore, rising from only 2,500 per week at the start of 2023 to over 18,000 per week presently.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) recently said that it plans to further promote the resumption of international flights, and actively participate in regional civil aviation cooperation and exchanges, and promote the high-quality construction of the Air Silk Road.
