Myanmar investment development forum kicks off in Yangon

YANGON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar Investment and Development Forum kicked off here on Wednesday, aimed at sharing the investment opportunities in the country.

Speaker of Yangon Region Parliament U Tin Maung Tun vowed at the opening ceremony of the two-day forum at the International Business Center to do the country's best in attracting foreign investors.

Being a developing country, inviting to make investment in Myanmar is the best for development among other channels, Dr. Maung Maung Thein, legal consultant and Executive Chief from Zico Law Co told the forum.

Second Secretary of Chinese embassy's Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office Peng Shaofeng stressed that China and Myanmar are cooperating not only economically but also socially as the two countries have a long boundary, enhancing friendship between the two countries.

He expected the forum is good news for Chinese businesses to gain investment opportunity in the country.

Yangon region government Minister of Electricity and Transport Daw Ni Lar Kyaw promised that the regional government will work for offering a fair land price for foreign investors and the availability of electricity.
