Philippine President Duterte Meets with Hu Chunhua

    Philippine President Duterte met with Vice Premier of the State Council Hu Chunhua in Manila on October 24.

    Hu Chunhua said that with the joint leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Duterte, China-Philippine relations have successfully achieved transformation, consolidation and upgrading in recent years. China is willing to work together with the Philippine side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state. They will promote high-level cooperation in building the Belt and Road cooperation, and strengthen the matchmaking of development strategies. They will expand trade and investment cooperation, and promote the sustainable development of economic and trade exchanges. Key cooperation projects will be accelerated to achieve more substantive progress. They will strengthen cooperation at the regional and multilateral levels, and maintain close communication and coordination on relevant issues. China encourages qualified enterprises to expand investment in the Philippines and hopes that the Philippines will further improve the business environment and provide support and convenience for the cooperation between the two countries.

    Duterte said that the Philippine government attaches great importance to its relations with China and actively participates in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. It will work with China to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields and jointly promote the development of comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries.

    During his visit in the Philippines, Hu Chunhua also held talks with the cabinet economic team led by Philippine Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez.
