2023 Conference on International Industrial Cooperation (Singapore) & China's Machinery and Electronics Show in Singapore held to boost int'l industrial co-op

The 2023 Conference on International Industrial Cooperation (Singapore) and China's Machinery & Electronics Show in Singapore was held from March 22 to 24 in Singapore, serving as a platform to boost international industrial cooperation.
 
The event was jointly hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), and themed on five topics of green development, digital empowerment, land-sea trade corridor, SDG finance and intelligent manufacturing.
 
More than 600 Chinese and foreign representatives from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries, international organizations, industry associations, financial institutions and enterprises attended the event.
 
A number of centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and leading private enterprises from China also participate in the event with their high-end machinery and electronic products, with the aim to create new opportunities for win-win cooperation with international enterprises from the globe.
 
The China's Machinery and Electronics Show (Singapore) set up four exhibition zones of infrastructure, home appliances and electronics, electric power and new energy, and industrial machinery at the show, with a total of 431 exhibition booths and covering an area of more than 8,000 square meters.
 
The exhibition aims to be a cooperative window to showcase China's high-end manufacturing development and foreign investment cooperation, promote trade and investment among RCEP member countries, and develop international cooperation in the whole industry chain.
 
"Singapore is China's friendly neighbor and comprehensive partner that keeps pace with the times," said Ling Ji, vice commerce minister and deputy China international trade representative, in a speech via video link.
 
He pointed out that the event is an important initiative to strengthen cooperation between China and Singapore in the fields of green industry and digital economy, as well as a positive attempt to build a high-level cooperation platform for regional industry chain and supply chain, which is of positive significance to promote two-way investment between China and Singapore and deepen regional industrial cooperation.
 
Alvin Tan, Singaporean Minister of State for Trade and Industry said, "Enterprises in Singapore, China and other RCEP member countries are exploring new business cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of green development and digital economy. Meanwhile, more and more business cooperation will be conducted between Singapore and China. The Singaporean and Chinese governments will take great efforts to provide a favorable business environment."
 
Sun Haiyan, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, said in her speech that at present, everyone can feel the boom of China's high-quality economic development, which has boosted their confidence and enthusiasm to cooperate with China. One of the key directions to strengthen cooperation is the real economy and manufacturing industry. China's real manufacturing industry has outstanding advantages and huge potential. The Conference on International Industrial Cooperation provides a platform for an in-depth understanding of China's real economy and manufacturing industry for all sectors of society, and it is hoped that all can seize the opportunity to promote cooperation.
 
Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), also addressed the conference via video link, saying that RCEP member countries are at different economic development stages, with their economies highly complementary, and industrial cooperation will create new space for their economic and social development.
 
"This event comes at the right time and will certainly deepen the international industrial chain and supply chain's exchanges and strongly promote economic and trade cooperation in RCEP member countries," said Guo Ningning, vice governor of China's Fujian Province, adding that "the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has become Fujian's largest trade and investment partner. We would like to take this conference as a new starting point and work together with ASEAN countries, including Singapore, to build quality Belt and Road."
 
Documents such as the Common Action Plan on Promoting Green Development and the Memorandum of Cooperation on Establishing International Industry Cooperation Service Platform, and many other cooperation results were signed or released at the event.
